a light duty reel thats easy to mount any where, I built a flat dolly and mounted the reel next to my compressor that is on the same dolly. When not in use it fits under one of my work benches ready to go where ever I need it. No hunting for the hose or looking for a place to store it works good for me.
I was looking for an inexpensive hose reel for my home shop.This was the most afordable one I could find on-line.It works just great.
I'd thought I'd try these(the 65' and 35') because at their price, if they're any good at all, they represent a good alternative to the pricier Coilhose and PUR-Hose models. That, plus I liked the included swivel fittings. After two weeks of heavy use, I'm very pleased. No problems of any type. Since they're available locally through Northern Tool, I'll be buying more. Do note however that fittings differ from norm so you might have to buy additional connectors.
This is the best hose reel in this price range.Let me explain why:
Nice construction but it has fittings for 1/2 inch hose.It does fit 100 yards of 3/8 inch hose, however.Just need to buy converters for 1/2 to 3/8, about $10.So along with $17 shipping total cost is $77.
Reelcraft makes the best hose reels I have ever used, they are well made and long lasting (I have two that I have used for 20 years).The 7850 OLP 1/2 inch is the most popular size and length for shop use.At a weight of 52 pounds you will need to fasten to a stud or backing.I prefer the ceiling instalation with 2x12 backing. Unreeling most of the hose makes it lighter to install, and then a tug on the hose and it reels itself up. Requires a two-person install, one to hold it and one to install the fasteners.Pre-drill pilot holes for large lag screws. I recommend using a Parker HF-251-6-FP (automatic) coupling on the end (for those using Industrial Interchange style quick disconnects).

My wife and I are avid gardeners and even though we have a drip irrigation system, a hose is always needed in a yard. Yet we both hate having to coil up any type of hose. We even had a heavy duty metal hand wound hose reel with wheels. We hated it.....I had bought and was very satisfied with Legacy's compressed air hose reel in my garage. So I decided to try the water hose reel. I did have a small problem initially with the water hose reel, but the repair was taken care of by the factory, at no cost to me. Now, I have the unit back and it works as reliably as my other Legacy. I strongly recommend this product.
I saw this type of reel used in automotive garages and used to say "one day I will get one, when I can afford it...." well, I finally find a very good quality retractable hose reel that I can afford. Do not let the plastic housing worry you, it is strong enough. I mounted mine in the rafters of my garage/workshop and it is a delight to use. It makes the workshop safer since there is no hose on the floor to trip over.
I recently installed this hose reel and the major problem is that it doesn't layer the hose therefore it stacks on its self and doesn't retract all the way.Sometimes I have to try two or three times to get it retracted.It is a pain.Spend the extra money and get a biger one that layers the hose.
I received this Air Hose Reel as a birthday present ordered from Amazon.The only problem was that it didn't come with the 1/2" m x 3/8"f NPT reducing adapter in order to connect an air hose line from the compressor to the Reel.I had to spend some more time ordering this part before I could set the Reel up for use.
Exactly as described, works great.Mounted in a ceiling for quick-use / return.Mates with standard hoses at 3/8" NPT.Sturdy and durable.Recommended for a low cost clean up of hoses running across the floor.
This Legacy L8306 3/8" x 75' Retractable Air Hose Reel is very nice, I am just a guy who likes neet work areas such as my garage and basement, I have a 50' retractable air hose reel from another manufacturer and it is not nearly as nice, I really like the way it retracts the line and reels the hose back and forth so it doesn't get tangled internally, in my garage I had my old unit hard plummed but had to add another piece of galvanized pipe to make up for the short 3' lead, if you can swing it opt for the 75 ft. and not the 50 ft. the extra 25 ft. makes a difference I no longer have to run a second line
Well engineered, a little more plastic than I would have expected but it works as described.The levelwind is a plus just pull back on the hose and walk it in.
I had a small problem with the supplied air hose 2 weeks after I installed the reel (developed a rather large 'bulge').The warrantee states that the hoses are not actually warranteed, as they are a 'wear item', but I contacted Legacy support (via e-mail) just to see if they could do anything anyway.
OK, so I'm a nut: I bought the Legacy 8611 to install in my home garage.It seems very sturdy -- but maybe I'm not giving it the heavy work-out you might, on the bed of a service truck, or overhead some grease bay.(Note: If you're concerned about such things, this model is from China rather than Iowa; nevertheless it seems well-made. I chose the 8611 over Legacy's newer "LevelWind" models even though they're made in the USA and have the hose-leveler feature -- because they are plastic (PP) instead of metal!Also I like the idea of bolting it down to my slab, versus the LevelWind models have rubber feet and a wall bracket.)Though the description doesn't say so, a 3-foot lead-in hose and two fittings are included in the package.Also, the photo is incorrect in respect to the way it was actually packaged: to use it on the floor (as shown), you must unbolt the upper arm and rotate it 90 degrees (tilt it forward).It's no big deal, but just in case you're some kind of wimp who doesn't want to fiddle around with his/her new toys...
